Workmate
Engels/Mutsers
‘oh I do need someoe to help me
I just can’t make it on my own’
that was my baby talking,
sounding desperate through the phone
she had no job fors even years now
she claims het enemy is ‘time’
she said that nobody would miss her
if she would really draw the line
now don’t laugh
I bet you never really felt that way
I’m sure you don’t know what I mean
I hope you’ll never have to face that day
a poor man’s lawn ain’t ever green
she cleans her window every morning
she cleans it every afternoon
she bit her nails and half her fingers
sitting lonely in her room
oh no; i thought I’d give that girl a workmate
but all she needed was a friend
my joke to make her smile came too late
from my WorkMate, through that window, to her end
now don’t laugh
I bet you never really felt that way
I’m sure you don’t know what I mean
I hope you’ll never have to face that day
a poor man’s lawn ain’t ever green
